Asia’s Premier Aluminium Industry Event, ALUMINIUM CHINA, Achieves Significant Growth in 2012
19.07.2012, 15:09In the first week of June, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2012, the 8th edition of Reed Exhibitions’ flagship industrial materials show, and Asia’s leading aluminium trade event, took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
From June 6, the exhibition showcased the aluminium industry’s whole supply chain, together with its major application fields. Professionals from across the globe descended on Shanghai for three days of busy trading, networking and seminar activities at the heart of world’s most dynamic aluminium market.
This year, ALUMINIUM CHINA made significant gains in terms of growth in number of participants. On a show floor nearly 22% larger than in 2011 (28,000sqm), 367 local and international exhibitors (13% more than last year) showcased their most compelling and advanced innovations to a record high 12,000 trade visitors - over 6% higher than ALUMINIUM CHINA 2011. Nearly 1,000 of the visitors were from abroad and a total of 81 countries were represented at the show.
Research shows that China’s aluminium industry expanded by 66.8% in 2011, making the country the world’s largest producer and consumer of aluminium. In 2012, China is expect to produce about 17 million tons of the metal, 20% more than last year, to cater for demand in markets such as aerospace, automotive, construction, electrical and packaging.
Together with swelling numbers in participants and scale, as well as the industry’s burgeoning market prospects, ALUMINIUM CHINA also registered significant gains in terms of exhibitor satisfaction. Several of them, like - Ronghui Ding, Director Zhejiang GKO Aluminium’s R&D Institute, were particularly impressed by the diversity of visitors. Mr. Ronghui said, “We found the international visitors on-site, particularly those that came to our booth, were significantly more than last year. The majority of them were from regions like Africa, the Middle East, South Korea and the US.”
Ryu Sawachi, General Manager of Furukawa-Sky Aluminium Corp’s Public & Investor Relations Department added, “This is the sixth time we’ve exhibited in ALUMINIUM CHINA, and we are always impressed by how many clients we meet here. It was the same this year. In fact, I think the number of visitors rises with each successive edition of the show. We plan to exhibit again next year.”
Satisfaction with the exhibition can also be attributed to the fact that it ran concurrent with complementary events featuring copper, magnesium and composites - on the same floor. This gave participants a synergetic opportunity to source and display diversified solutions.
At the event, Shandong Conglin Group, Nanshan Aluminium, SNTO, Guang Ya Aluminium, Xinren Aluminium, and several more of China’s highest profile aluminium raw material and processed material manufacturers, displayed products. As did, Aluminium Bahrain, Furukawa-Sky, SMS group, FATA Hunter and other international industry giants. Together, they comprehensively showcased the latest developments in the worldwide aluminium industry.
As ALUMINIUM CHINA continues to make significant strides towards becoming Asia’s top materials sourcing platform, Reed Exhibitions, the event’s organizers, have already turned their attention to next year’s event. ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 will again be held in Shanghai, at the New International Expo Center, from July 2 to July 4.
Reed Exhibitions will continue to enhance the value of ALUMINIUM CHINA to exhibitors by improving it services, expanding the number and quality of visitors to the event (through Hosted Buyer and International Visiting Delegation Programs) and integrating key industry-defining conferences.
