SMS Meer. Huta Łabędy orders 12 ¾" HF tube welding line

For its works in Gliwice, Poland, Huta Łabędy has ordered an HF tube welding line with API finishing facility from SMS Meer, Germany. SMS Meer is single-source supplier of all technical equipment and is also responsible for installation and commissioning. Thanks to the horizontal quick-change system, Huta Łabędy will be able to increase its productivity by 30 percent in comparison with conventional quick-change systems.

“SMS Meer will be supplying a tailor-made all-inclusive package. This approach has convinced us“, says Grzegorz Lukas from Huta Łabędy.

The new machine has an annual capacity of 270,000 tons and can produce tubes with diameters from 4 ½ to 12 ¾", wall thicknesses from 3.0 to 12.7 millimeters, and lengths of up to 18 meters.

The maximum production speed is 60 meters per minute. All stands are equipped with individual drive.

The computer-controlled CSS-Quicksetting^® system ensures that the rolls are automatically adjusted to their working positions after the size change.

The tubes produced fulfil demanding standards such as API 5L for line pipes and EN 10219 for structurals of round, square or rectangular sections.

Commissioning is scheduled for the third quarter of 2015.
