Abstract

In Turkey an NPP is planned to be built close to the Mediterranean port of Mersin in the Akkuyu region. The proposal of the consortium includes construction of 4 power units (VVER reactors) 1.2 GW each, according to the Russian “NPP-2006" draft with the time of putting into operation in 2016-2019. The signed Agreement will be passed to the parliaments of both countries and will enter into force after its ratification.
