| Abstract | An increase in the efficiency of the use of slag-forming mixtures was noted when switching from manual feeding to mechanized feeding in the molds of continuous casting machines of large cross-sectional billets. The stages of development of systems for the controlled input of finely dispersed material associated with the development of combined drives that ensure the coordinated functioning of the mechanisms for controlled discharge from the feed hopper using a rigid vertical screw of the slag-forming mixture and its subsequent transportation by a flexible spiral screw to the mold of the slab continuous casting machine are highlighted. Variants of new systems are proposed, designed for use in the production of round bloom blanks of especially large cross-section and allowing the supply of the mixture through guide tips, which move over the free surface of liquid steel in the mold along a given trajectory with the help of screw transmissions driven by automatically controlled stepper motors. The industrial application of the implemented developments will not only reduce the consumption of slag-forming mixtures by 15-20 %, but also improve the quality of the surface of continuously cast billets and improve the working conditions of workers, freeing them from manual operations on the batch pushing of bulk material into the mold using wooden strokes. Possible scientific and technical cooperation between the leading higher educational institutions and design organizations of the Russian Federation and the DPR and LPR that have become part of it will open up prospects for successfully solving the problems of the import substitution program adopted in the country in the field of creating advanced samples of auxiliary technological equipment used in continuous casting of steel. |
