Abstract

The article analyzes the influence of pit highwall design on the work mode of mining. The width of the bench was varied in the analysis. The analysis involved the model of an open pit mine at a steeply pitching deposit with the horizontal thickness of 540 m up to the depth of 630 m. The employed mining equipment was single bucket excavators with bucket capacity 9 m3 and output of 800 thou m3 per year. It has been found that the bench width not only influences the work mode of mining but conditions the value of the maximum possible output of an open pit mine in terms of ore. The work mode adjustment domain has been analyzed for an open pit mine with the preset output.
