Obogashchenie Rud
Tzolo Voutov – a representative from Bulgaria, the president of the “Geotechmin” Holding – became member of the editorial board of the journal “Obogashchenie Rud”. His biography and merits in the scientific and public activities are briefly described in this issue of the journal.
The section “Processing Technology” includes most articles of this issue, and describes the new and improved technologies of ferrous and base metals processing, as well as those of diamond-bearing materials treatment with a view to provide diamonds recovery. In the article “Prospects of iron ore concentrate grade increase at ОАО “Karelsky Okatysh” by V. А. Dyubchenko et al. it is shown, that final processing on ”Stack Sizer” Derrick screens with processing regime parameters correction will permit to produce iron ore concentrates at ОАО “Karelsky Okatysh”, suitable for production of DRI pellets, which will be in keeping with the currently employed tendencies in the world ferrous metallurgy. Processing technology was developed for processing the Nurkazgan deposit West areasulfide copper ore, low in copper, gold and silver content (the article byOtrozhdyonnova L. A. et al.). As a result of simple flow sheet and flotation regime application, high-grade copper concentrate was produced with high recovery of copper (92 %), gold (70.5 %) and silver (81.4 %). The article “The “ALROSA” Diamondsmarketable products’ quality increase through improvement of technology of diamonds liberation” (byKarnatskiy V. A. et al.) is devoted to the issue of decreasing diamonds damaging in diamond ore mining and processing. To achieve that, it is recommended to decrease to a maximum degree liberated diamonds retention time in wetautogenous grinding mills, optimize mills drums’rotating speed regimes, apply preservation technologies for ground ore transportation, optimize design parameters of mills discharge grates and autogenous grinding water regimes.
In an article (byVasilkov V. B. et al.) in the section, dedicated tofundamental research, gas bubble motion in viscous incompressible liquid in horizontally oscillating vessel is theoretically and experimentally investigated, taking into consideration bubble’s proper compressibility. Anapproximate expression has been obtained for average velocity of bubble’s motion in liquid, its relationship to bubble radius and vibration parameters has been established. The results, obtained in this study, may be of interest for development of the theory of vibrational methods and technologies to be employed in beneficiation processes, in particular, flotation process. Aniterativecalculation model is proposed for sands circulation computation in respect of ball mills, operating in locked cycle with classifier (the article byMalyshev V. P. et al.). It is shown, that return of sands does not immediately bring mill in stationary regime, that stationary regime is achieved in 15-20 cycles, depending on time of material retention in mill, feed ore size fractioncomposition, conditions of product separation into overflow and sands, and regime of mill’s operation.
An article (bySapozhnikov А. I., Golovanov А. V.) in the section “Equipment” considers a promising direction in disintegration technology improvement. The authors substantiate thealgorithm of combining crushing and grinding stages in one working chamber. The cone crusher-mill design has been proposed, providing for realization of proposed rock disintegration algorithm. The crusher-millproduction prototype testing results verified a high degree of grinding and low energy consumption of prototype.
An article (byArsentyev V.A. et al.) in the section “Processing of secondary raw materials”, considers special features of a technology developed for production of granulatedaggregate for concretes using screenings’ dust fractions, obtained in crushed stone production, and describes the properties of such aggregate. This technology will be realized in a presently constructed pilot plant complex, providing for utilization of primary waste resulting frominert nonmetallic minerals.
