Tsvetnye Metally

The articles, published in the 3-rd issue of "Tsvetnye Metally" (Non-ferrous metals) journal (March, 2013) share the subject area of heavy and light non-ferrous metals and rare metals. This issue shares the questions of theory and practice of ore concentration, production and processing of non-ferrous metals, complex usage of crude ores, economics and management of production and industrial automation.

The section «Economics and Management of Production» includes the article, which describes the production technology of FeNi3/C nanocomposite (permalloy), which application scope is being constantly expanded. This production technology was developed in National University of Science and Technology «MISiS». There were carried out the feasibility study and definition of market value of permalloy production technology. The permalloy production project is included into the Program of innovation development of «Prioksky Plant of Non-ferrous Metals» JSC for the period till 2020.

The article by A. M. Panshin, M. G. Viduetskiy, V. A. Maltsev, V. M. Sokolov and A. A. Bondarev tells about the development of design of high-productive pneumatic columnar flotation machines CFM (КФМ), which foresees the usage of two aeration zones. During the concentration of difficult pyrrhotite containing copper-zinc ores, the pneumatic machine CFM-1400M (КФМ-1400М) worked as high-efficient flotation apparatus.

Composition of non-metallic impurities in black copper, during its air oxidation, was estimated at «Uralelektromed» JSC. Readers can get more information about this estimation in the article «Oxide inclusions in copper during its fire refining process».

The article by V. A. Utkov and M. G. Yakovlev, published in the section «ALUMINIUM, ALUMINA, CARBON MATERIALS», tells about the industrial experience of preparation and agglomeration of red bauxite mud. Sufficiently high-qualitative agglomerate was obtained during the processing of red mud (with humidity of up to 35-45%) from the closed part of slime storage. This agglomerate guarantees the complete direct or complex processing of red mud with extraction of rare-earth metals.

Results of calcium manufacturing mastering of method of granulation of metallic calcium from melt are given in the article by A. A. Talanov, E. V. Ilenko, R. T. Abashev, M. L. Kotsar and V. N. Kaplenkov.

Article by D. V. Pruttskov and N. P. Krivoruchko presents the results of laboratory and experimental and industrial testings for the development of utilization technology of fine dispersed silicon wastes, which were formed during the direct synthesis of organochlorosilanes – developed contact mass. According to results of researches, there were defined the optimal technological decisions for usage of silicon wastes in manufacturing of high silica ferrosilicon and silicon tetrachloride.

Large Afrikanda deposit of perovskite ores (Murmansk Oblast) is the prospective source of titanium compounds and, at the same time, compounds of rare-earth metals, niobium and tantalum. The deposit is of practical interest for development, because of its closeness, preparedness to exploitation and presence of developed infrastructure. As applied to such raw materials, specialists from I. V. Tananaev Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements and Mineral Raw Materials (Kola Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Sciences) formed a package of large-scale technological developments and small projects. Scientific basis of technology and technological schemes of perovskite concentrate processing were also developed in this institute. In the first place, these basis are directed to manufacturing of pigmental titanium dioxide, which is, practically, lacking in Russia. According to this, there will be simultaneously manufactured the compounds of rare-earth metals. Readers can get more information about this in the article «By-product manufacturing of rare-earth metals during the processing of perovskite concentrate of the Afrikanda deposit».

The article by L. B. Khokhlatova, N. I. Kolobnev, E. A. Lukina and L. B. Ber considers the possibility of obtaining of completely recrystallized structure for the purpose of decreasing of anisotropy of properties in the sheets, made of aluminium-lithium alloy 1424. Uniform and completely recrystallized fine grain structure in the sheets is reached due to the rolling process with intermediate annealings and high-temperature processing on solid solution. Completely recrystallized structure in sheets provides the significant decreasing of anisotropy of properties with straining in three directions.

This issue includes the article, which tells about the activities of Innovation and Technological Center «Akademicheskiy» (Ekaterinburg). Production activity in the Center is constantly combined with scientific and experimental-design works. More than 30 patents and favourable decisions have been received for the 15-year period. More than 20 types of new products have been introduced to the market.
