Hertwich Engineering. Reynolds Consumer Products orders new melting furnace

Reynolds Consumer Products has placed an order with Hertwich Engineering, Austria, for the supply of an Ecomelt PS-140 melting furnace for their Hot Springs rolling mill in Arkansas, U.S.A. This furnace type provides, among others, greater flexibility during charging of scrap material, in particular with oily and coated scrap.

The new Hertwich Ecomelt PS-140 replaces two smaller furnaces and shall supply liquid metal to two existing casting lines in the future.

Thanks to the well-proven technology, Hertwich Ecomelt furnaces stand out for particularly low energy consumption and low metal loss.

The scope of supply includes an automatic container charging system with a capacity of 5 containers, a flue-gas treatment plant and the melting furnace with vertical pre-heating shaft and regenerative burner system.

Commissioning and start of production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
