Hertwich Engineering. Audi commissions Ecomelt furnaces

06.03.2014, 15:02

Automobile manufacturer Audi has successfully commissioned two Ecomelt melting furnaces from Hertwich Engineering (www.hertwich.com), Austria. The two Ecomelt PR-50 furnaces supply the newly constructed die-casting line in Münchsmünster, Germany, with liquid metal. Audi decided in favour of the Ecomelt technology from Hertwich Engineering in order to meet the high demands on the melting of small-sized scrap.

The Ecomelt melting furnaces from Hertwich Engineering stand for a particularly cost-effective melting process. The energy consumption is low – thanks also to the automation technology.

The high-performance Ecomelt PR-50 heating system thoroughly preheats the charge before melting, resulting in low metal losses with good metal quality.

The two melting furnaces at Audi produce 100 tons of liquid metal per day.

The Hertwich Engineering scope of supply also includes a multi-container charging system, crucibles, melting tanks and a crucible charging and treatment station.
