During the production of uranium fuel for an NPP, one of the most important stages is manufacturing uranium hexafluoride for its further enrichment, i.e. conversion. In the beginning of September 2010 Honeywell International Company (USA) announced that it would resume manufacturing uranium hexafluoride on a conversion plant in Metropolis, Illinois. In spite of formidable financial losses, the American company is still financing the single uranium conversion plant in the USA.
