The study was carried put in the framework of the research into mineral failure mechanism in disintegration of polymineral aggregates on various type equipment and in their next-following dressing selectivity. The study was aimed to assess influence of crushing method on efficiency of magnetic separation of lead-zinc ore from Dalnegorskoe deposit in Primorye. Crushing was carried out on SATEC 300DX universal testing machine manufactured by INSTRON, equipped with cylindrical uniaxial compression cell with an option of recording of load–deformation characteristic using Bluehill program, and on ROCLABS Boyd double-acting jaw crusher. During the tests, the grain size distributions and elemental compositions of crushing products were analyzed and compared, and the relationship between the dry magnetic separation performance and the ore preparation method was determined. The character of deformation and breakage of crystal particles was studied in the Analysis Center of IPKON RAS using the scanning electron microscope Leo 1420 VP. The elemental composition of the specimens was analyzed using X-ray fluorescence spectrometer Shimadzu XRF-1800. The article shows the comparative change of state of mineral crystals and formation of free grains after disintegration by different methods. Such correlation assists in comparison of equipment when it is required to select a technology and machines from the viewpoint of mineral disintegration selectivity. The authors confirm the relevance of the proposed numerical selectivity criterion adequately describing distribution of minerals in products of crushing and further dressing.
The study was accomplished under guidance of Academician V. A. Chanturia and Professor G. D. Krasnov, IPKON RAS.
