«Gornyi Zhurnal» (transl.: Mining Journal) is the oldest Russian and one of the oldest international scientific-technical and industrial monthly journal devoting to all aspects of deposit development and mining of mineral resources.

 

Established in 1825 at the Mining Military School (today St. Petersburg Mining Institute). Since 1997 the journal has been included in "Ore and Metals" Publishing House.

 

Gornyi zhurnal” as mass media is published both in printed and electronic versions. Contents of these 2 versions is identical. Electronic and printed formats of edition are necessary to provide the readership opportunity to choose the most suitable version for reading.

Based on resolution of the Supreme Attestation Committee (VAK) of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the journal is included in the “List of periodical and scientific-technical editions published in the Russian Federation, where publication of the main results of Doctor’s theses are recommended” for the theme of deposit development of solid minerals, economics and power engineering.

 

In 2013, the journal «Gornyi Zhurnal» was included into the international bibliographic and abstract database Scopus, which is an instrument for tracking of scientific articles' citedness. The Ministry of education and science of Russian Federation considers theScopus database as a criterion of estimation of efficiency of activity of higher education institutes.
