History of the SIC “Supermetal” reckons from the beginning of the 60-th years of the ХХ century. Those years there was set a tusk – to increase the production volume of the glass fibre, which development occurs in the excited environments, at high temperatures and mechanic loadings. Only platinum and its alloys could sustain such service conditions. During that period, the requirement in platinum and its alloys significantly exceeded their world yearly output. For research, there were chosen the double Pt–Pd, the threefold Pt–Pd–Rh alloys, and also the alloys with more difficult system Pt–Pd–Rh–Ir and Pt–Pd–Rh–Ru. The testing of alloys were held in the conditions, which were approached to the working conditions of the glassmelting devices. The complex of physical and chemical researchings of a composition of alloys was held: the metallographic, the submicroscopic researchings of the structure of alloys. The optimum mode of the fusion and the fabrication was chosen. On the basis of the received experimental data, the industrial alloys were developed for the glass-melting devices. These alloys were implemented at the fiberglass factories, and allowed to save several tens of tons of platinum. In the 90-ies, there was realised the development and was organized the industrial production of the age-hardened platinum and it,s alloys. The “nonrefining” processing of a rich platinum scrap and wastes was created and implemented commercially. Another important line of business, which appeared in the XXI century, was the production of the catalytic systems for nitric acid production; making of wire production for measuring technique. There were also implemented the development and realise of the medical purpose products. Nowdays, more than hundred Russian and foreign companies are the partners and customers of SIC “Supermetal”.
