Abstract

The investigations of briquetting of ore copper-nickel concentrate with the various contents of nonferrous metals are carried out with using as a bonding agent the water solutions of molasses and its mixtures with lignosulfonates. Investigations are carried out on the scheme “the primary additive of bonding agent to the filtered concentrate — the drying of mixture — the secondary additive of bonding agent — briquetting of mixture on roller press”. There is determined in order to receive briquettes with same mechanical strength it is necessary to add at 1/3 less molasses than lignosulfonates with same density of bonding agents. The content of bonding agent and humidity of briquetting mixture are defined. It is essential for receiving briquettes necessary strength depending on mixture composition and content nonferrous metals in concentrate. The effects of mixture temperature, storage stability of briquettes in natural conditions on their quality are determined. Also the effects of humidity of mixture and content of bonding agent on briquette-press operation are researched. Depending on results of investigations there is recommended to use molasses as a bonding agent alternative lignosulfonate applying in briquette production from ore copper-nickel concentrate on Kola MMC.
