Abstract The smelting of sulphide ores in Vanyukov furnace is a main stage of producing of non-ferrous metals in the Norilsk Nickel joint-stock company. During this process the degasification with the high percentage of sulphur dioxide occurs. The article deals with the problem of reduction of emission of sulphur dioxide in the atmosphere. For this purpose a fuzzy model of Claus apparatus is built, which is used for utilization of sulphur dioxide, and new managerial system of Claus-process is offered. As the result, the efficiency of gas cleaning from sulphur dioxide can be increased by 5–10%.
