The results of experimental and theoretical researches of prospects of using alloys on vanadium base in reactors of thermonuclear fusion, obtained in the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the frames of programs of material development for nuclear power engineering have been presented. The estimation of thermal stresses, arisen in first wall of reactors of thermonuclear fusion during influence of neutron currents has been done. Positive role of vanadium and alloys as materials, highly affected to suppression of described stresses has been shown. The results of researches mechanisms of formation and growth of dislocation interstitial loops and barriers formation for flexible dislocation in vanadium and V—21,5 % Ti alloy have been adduced. The results of works of researching defect structure and phase stability during electronic and neutron radiation of alloys on vanadium base have been presented.
