Abstract
Collection of faleristics and medal art in the Russian State depository for precious metals and gems covers the period from XVIII to the first half of XX century and counts about 11 thousands storage units, including orders, award and desk medals, badges and tokens. The Russian state orders form the largest division of the collection fund. The commemorative desk medals, including very rare gold medal intitled “In memory of the event of 4 April, 1866 to O. I. Komisarov-Kostromskoy” occupy special place. The unique samples of marshal insignias, made of precious stones in 1940 and decorated with brilliants, rubies and sapphires have been kept in the State Fund.
