Abstract
The main sections of the coin fund — from antiquity to the newest time — have been presented in the numismatics collection of the Russian State depository for precious metals and gems (Gokhran of Russia). The coins from imperial period of Russia from Peter I to Nicholas II, including very rare and valuable exemplars compose the base of the collection, its best and the most complete part. Western European coins of new time are presented in particular by thalers, which have been minted by different countries and played important role in their economical life. Numerous monuments of national numismatology of XX century reflect difficult period of the Soviet and post-Soviet history and illustrate all the changes in the currency circulation and coin minting of the country. Acquisition of the collection fund of the Gokhran of Russia is continuing.
