Abstract
Possibilities of using spectrophotometric and х-ray fluorescence research methods during emeralds separation according to the colour groups have been investigated. The samples from Urals and Columbia have been chosen as the objects for research. Wave length band, typical for different colour lines of emeralds has been defined via spectrophotometric method. The relation of emerald coloration and content of chromophores (Cr, V, Fe) has been established via х-ray fluorescence analysis. The comparison of content of these elements for every deposit has been realized. It has been shown that degree of color saturation has been defined with summary content of described chromophores. Usage of these methods for conditioning, sorting and estimation emerald has been recommended.
