Nowadays, near 70% of global reserves of nickel are contained in oxidized nickel ores. In comparison with the sulfide copper-nickel ores, these ores are typical by rather low nickel content. Blast smelting processing of oxidized nickel ores is unprofitable in Russia. This is the reason why the Urals plants “Yuzhuralnikel” and “Ufaleynikel” were closed. Introduction and development of hydro- and pyrometallurgical methods of processing is going to solve this problem. The well-known autoclave and ammoniacarbonate technologies are implemented for rich oxidized nickel ores. The agitation nitric acid, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid methods of leaching are investigated. A heap method of processing of oxidized nickel ores was defined. None of the considered methods was industrially applied. Processing of leaching solutions by the existing methods is very complicated and is not logically concluded. Our article considers a new method of nickel and cobalt extraction from solutions of heap leaching of oxidized nickel ores by Russian-produced extractant Hydrazex-59 (GVIK). We found the possibility of extraction and re-extraction of nickel and cobalt from heap leaching solutions of iron-manganese ores of the Serovskoe deposit. We also defined the influence of pH solutions and other factors on extraction process. Aluminium, manganese and magnesium have almost no extraction. Re-extraction of nickel and cobalt is possible using both sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. Introduction of preliminary stage of washing of organic phase during the extraction allows rather complete removing of impurities of iron, manganese, magnesium, aluminium and most part of cobalt.
