The work considers iron concentrate stage separation technology, which becomes possible for application, if magnetite liberated grains are present in products before final grinding stages. Magnetic products of the Kachkanarsky MCC concentrating plant three grinding stages wet magnetic separation operations were studied. Final concentrate may be separated from wet magnetic separation-III magnetic product prior to final grinding stage. The product contains sufficient quantity of magnetite liberated grains. Iron content in smaller size fractions is not below final concentrate iron grade. In order to provide for iron concentrate stage separation by means of a commercial drum magnetic separator, a drum magnetic separator with modified separating bath was developed. The separator and iron concentrate stage separation circuit as an additional operation of wet magnetic separation prior to third grinding stage were tested at the Kachkanarsky MCC concentrating plant. A concentrate was obtained from wet magnetic separation-III magnetic product on account of a considerable increase in mass fraction of –71 micron product, being equal to 12.15 %. So, magnetic product of drum magnetic separator is final concentrate and non-magnetic product is middling. The latter is delivered to third grinding stage and subjected to further processing in production of main part of concentrate. Part of final concentrate is separated prior to final grinding stage, with yield of 22 % from operation, reducing grinding costs in the final grinding stage.
