This article tells about the research of influence of baked anode block design in aluminum electrolytic cell on its operating characteristics. Different types of аnodes were considered: classic (solid) anode; anode with gas-outlet hole without sacrificial coating; and anode with gas-outlet hole, protected by alundum insert. The electrolytic cell operation was analyzed using various types of anode blocks. The reduction mechanism of application efficiency of anodes with unprotected gas-outlet holes was defined, while the method for removing of this reduction was offered. Material application for sacrificial protection of gas-outlet element of baked aluminum electrolytic cell anode was proposed and substantiated. The experimental setup diagram was developed and shown for assessment of application efficiency of baked anode with various designs. There are shown the experimental data about aluminum obtaining by cryolite-aluminous melt electrolysis using various design anode. The application advantage of baked anode with alundum inset protected gas-outlet hole is shown regarding the solid anode, expressed in energy saving, electrolytic bath voltage reduction and current efficiency growth.
