Abstract

Pure copper has high density and high adaptability to pressure treatment, due to which, it is widely used in production of shaped charge facing. Results of theoretical and experimental researches indicate that manufacturing technology of copper shaped facing makes a significant influence on the charge penetrating ability. In connection with this, the choice of a particular embodiment of the process requires the investigations of the effect of mechanical and thermal treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of copper in the final product. There are considered the results of such investigation in the production of shaped charge facing, with application of rotary rolling. The aim of this work was to evaluate the mechanical properties and microstructure of copper, formed in this process, in terms of providing the required metal workability and charge penetration, taking into account the state of applicable tape and modes of plastic and thermal treatment used in the process. Initial condition of the tape (hardness, anisotropy) and various deformation in drawing does not affect the level of mechanical properties, formed in the finished parts. At the same time, both forecasting of charge penetration, and evaluation of workability point the reasonable focus on the level of yield strength and specific work of metal in the finished parts. Dependence between these values is defined, allowing to consider the yield strength as a defining indicator of facing metal quality. Increasing of deformation intensity in drawing leads to the grinding of grains, formed after annealing. However, the grain size inhomogeneity of different sections of the finished part does not affect the charge penetration.
