Abstract

The paper presents the results of phased modernization of Norilsk Concentrator (Polar Division of Norilsk Nickel) according to its expansion project aimed at the increase of disseminated ore charge processing by 1 mln. tons per year. Construction of crushing & classification complex No. 4 at fine crushing facility, addition of highly efficient gravity concentration complex, step-by-step commissioning of the equipment and its start-up were realized at current crushing, grinding and flotation sites while sustaining the processing scope without operation shutdown. Phase 1 of Norilsk Concentrator modernization has resulted in expansion of disseminated ore charge processing by 800,000 t/y on average. Phase 2 of Concentrator modernization is to be completed by the middle of 2015. Modernization project completion will permit to increase Norilsk Concentrator capacity by 1 mln. tons per year, to gain final products output of Polar Division as well as to enhance performance stability of Norilsk Concentrator.
