widely applied all over the world for smelting of aluminum scrap, zinc-containing wastes, lead, copper, steel rolling mill wastes and iron shavings. There are considered the peculiarities of smelting technology of aluminum scrap and waste, and aluminum slags in inclined rotor furnaces with various design. Metal extraction is instable in automatic drum tipping furnaces during the smelting of slag, which differs in coarseness and content of metal. At the same time, slags can often burn during the charge overheating. At the same time, obtaining of stable metal yield indices during various aluminium slags smelting, is possible in the furnaces with axis, shifted to the drum center, and with visual control of the charge state inside the furnace. Observance of the smelting process helps to avoid the charge overheating and, as a consequence, aluminum inflaming in slag, by regulation of furnace temperature and gas outlet from furnace chamber. Microscopic research of furnace dust showed that irregular shape of dust particles (flux and oxides) indicates their mechanical nature. This article shows the basic techniques of slag smelting in rotor furnace “Universal”. Dispersal across the slag furnace length allows small droplets coalesce into large metal for transfer to metal bath, which makes possible to receive the dumping slag (cakes with low metal content). This article gives the main design differences of “Universal” furnace and technological parameters for smelting of various scrap types. These data allow to state the high metal removal at low cost fuel and fluxes.
