“Obogashchenie Rud” is the leading journal in the field of mineral processing, concentration processes and technological mineralogy. Published since 1956. Volume up to 48 pages, 6 issues per year, circulation up to 1,000 copies. ISSN 0202-3776.
Mission of the journal is to elucidate innovative directions of development of mineral processing science and practice in Russia and abroad.
Publications cover different kinds of mineral and raw material resources: iron and non-ferrous ores, non-metallic mineral resources, technogenous materials. All spectrum of the processes and technologies applying for processing of these materials and ores is elucidated: crushing, comminution, classification, separation with usage of gravitational, electrostatic, magnetic, radiometric and other methods as well as flotation, pyro- and hydrometallurgy, sintering, filtration, thickening etc. The journal also publishes papers about development of the new equipment for mineral processing and crushing. Special sections are devoted to putting into practice and usage of up-to-date analytical methods for ores and products during mineral processing, provlems and remedies of technological mineralogy. The field of development of automatic control systems in mineral processing, designing and engineering of mining and concentrating works (from large industrial complexes to mobile modular units) are observed. Especial attention is paid to environment protection measures, storage and utilization of wastes, ground reclamation. Applied investigations are added by prospective developments in the field of fundamental science. "Obogashchenie Rud" journal is an expert peer-review edition. It gives also information about national and international events for mineral processing specialists, where "Obogashchenie Rud" is an information partner or sponsor, as well as about scientific bodies and industrial enterprises operating in the field of mineral processing and personally about famous scientists and specialists.

Abstract
|
A principally new method of chemical dressing of base metals ores by means of ammonium chloride is proposed. The basics of ammonium chloride physical-chemical interaction with ore components are described in brief. Examples of oxidized nickel, manganese, copper, lead-zinc ores dressing are presented. A brief comparative technical-economic estimate of oxidized nickel ore chloride-ammonium dressing technology is given.

Abstract
|
The results of lead-zinc ores flotation performed at the Mizurskaya concentrating plant with application of xanthate solutions, prepared with melt water, are presented. The described results of full-scale testing the solutions in question are evidence of lead and zinc recovery increase in all cases. Selectivity of lead and zinc minerals separation is also improved.

Abstract
|
Variable-size sylvinite ore desliming tests on roll magnetic separators SMRS-12/50-R and SMRS-22/50-R have been carried out. According to the testing results, up to 90.0 % of insoluble impurities are recovered into magnetic fraction. Ore size plays an important role in insoluble residue recovery. With apparatus modification for high-clay sylvinite ore cleaning, high-capacity separators may be built for application in potash industry.

Abstract
|
A method of mineral impurities removal from quartz powders by means of thermal sintering with quartz compounds, with their subsequent removal through sieve screening, is described. The results of preliminary and fine cleaning of commercial-grade quartz powders, produced from quartz of the Kyshtym deposit Berkutinskaya vein, are presented. Sinter photograph and sinter composition microprobe analysis results are also given.

Abstract

Testing results of sintering machine specific output as well as sinter product strength and basicity optimization in processing sinter mix, mostly composed of Mikhailovsky and Lebedinsky concentrates, at OAO «Uralskya Stal» (Urals Steel) sinter plant, are presented. It was revealed, that in processing sinter mix in question sintering regime should be conducted at basicity of 1.38 with sintering machine specific output of 1.116 t/(m2·hr), sinter product impact strength being 68.13 %. The testing methodology may serve as analogue of the above-mentioned sintering parameters optimization for sinter mix of other material composition.

Abstract
|
The Ayatskoye deposit ore microstructure has been studied following magnetic-roasting processing. Reducing roasting of gravity-magnetic concentrate, produced from the Ayatskoye deposit ores, with subsequent magnetic separation, has been implemented. A thermodynamic analysis of possible processes in FeO ? Fe2O3, Fe2O3 ? Fe3O4 system with reducing roasting has been carried out. The run-of-mine ore and pyrite cinders Mossbauer analysis data, following gravity-magnetic concentrate roasting in presence of liquid hydrocarbons, are presented. A possibility of the Ayatskoye deposit brown iron ores dressing by means of magnetic-roasting processing method with preliminary treatment by liquid hydrocarbons in order to produce competitive concentrate has been determined.

Abstract
|
Flotation process operation-and-technological monitoring principles, developed by Outotec, are considered. Historic data, accumulated by Customer, are analyzed in the course of auditing, using nonparametric statistics and in-depth analysis techniques (factor and cluster analyses, time-series analysis, spectral (Fourier) analysis, neural networks). Results of general sampling for circulation processes optimality and individual operations' recoveries estimation, as well as flotation cycles balancing and modeling development, are analyzed on the basis of HSC Sim software (Outotec). Production bottlenecks and headaches are exposed by way of particular cases, and recommendations are offered with respect to flotation operations technology and automation improvement.

The article is devoted to development of new design modifications of increased-efficiency dry magnetic separators. It is shown, that processing of large-lump ungraded material is possible through application of combination magnetic systems, considerably broadening dry magnetic separation application as an individual operation in mines, pits, concentrating facilities, without valuable component losses.

Mortar sand production technology from crushed granite screenings is presented, mortar sand may be used as aggregate in concrete production instead of scarce natural mortar sands. Besides, mortar sands produced from screenings crushed in inertia cone crusher, are not inferior in characteristics in relation to conventionally used natural mortar sands.
