The book is devoted to oxidizing and reducing processes (redox processes) occurring in leaching of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals from ores, concentrates and other products. Up-to-day knowledge about the mechanisms of oxidizing and reducing reactions and generalized regulations caused by these reactions are briefly described. Reaction capacity of several oxidizers is examined. Essential attention is paid to special oxidizing-reducing processes in non-water media, as well as to usage of SO₂ and air oxygen gas mixes with participation metal ions having variated valency for leaching of uranium and other metals. Several oxidizing-reducing processes (reactions) occurring in uranium leaching from ores, in leaching of non-ferrous and rare metals from sulfide materials and in leaching of gold and silver using cyanide and alternative (thio-sulphate, chloride, iodine-iodide and bromide) technologies are observed. Possibility of efficiency rise in uranium leaching from ores using natural complexes is shown on the example of lignosulphonates. Information about several physical methods of intensification of leaching processes is presented.
