Tsvetnye Metally

The research articles of "Tsvetnye metally" journal, No. 4 from 2018, cover the traditionally discussed topics, such as economics and production management, enrichment, heavy and noble metals, composite materials and multifunctional coatings, materials science and metal working.

This year the “Gintsvetmet” Institute reaches the age of 100. The article titled "Development of the technology for complex processing of persistent pyrite polymetallic ores of non-ferrous metals" by Bocharov V. A., Ignatkina V. A., Lapshina G. A. and Khachatryan L. is published in this issue of the journal.

In the article titled "Development of a technique for determining the strength properties of activated coals for their use in the processes of CIL and CIP", the specialists of JSC "Polimetal Injiniring" analyzed the issues of loss of activated coals and gold adsorbed on them during gold mining. The possibilities of reducing the losses of granular carbon adsorbents and gold adsorbed on them (I) in the most costly process of sorption cyanidation of gold-bearing ores from the point of view of coal consumption were investigated.

"Composite materials, multifunctional coatings" section contains an article titled "Low-temperature materials in the Ba-Pb-Al-B-Si-O / Al2O3 system for joint sintering with noble metal powders". Ceramic materials of low-temperature sintering are widely used as dielectric substrates for joint sintering with low-melting metals, which are used as conductors in multilayer structures. The obtained materials, when using glass with a large particle size of 5 μm, are less prone to penetration of the glass phase into the metallization layers by joint sintering with noble metal powders in the metallization pastes.

In the article titled "The production technology of a ligature alloy with rare earth aluminides" published in the section of "Material Science", the authors report on their new technology for the production of a ligature alloy from transition metal (Ce, La, and Y from Group III) aluminides; the A95 aluminum alloy was modified with cerium, lanthanum and yttrium at 900 oC in an atmosphere of pure argon. It was revealed that when adding the ligature to liquid iron (at 1300-1600 oC) no pyroeffect is observable and the effect of obtaining spherical graphite is stable. The strength and ductility of cast iron with nodular graphite are simultaneously increased. Also, a ligature alloy can be used to improve the mechanical properties of foundry aluminum alloys.
