Electrolytical production of magnesium

The book generalizes scientific investigations and practical experience of operation for national and foreign magnesium industry during last 12 years. Technological schemes for electrolytical magnesium production that are new and existing in the world technological practice, are considered. Especial attention is paid to physical-chemical grounds of dewatering and electrolysis of different kinds of chlorine-magnesium raw materials. Necessity of preliminary (before electrolysis) cleaning of melts is substantiated. Influence of composition and physical-chemical properties of electrolyte on technological and technical-economical properties of electrolysis is examined in details. The mechanism of magnesium wastes in electrolysis is studied.
