Geomechanics. A manual

M. V. Ryl’nikova, O. V. Zoteev

The manual describes the field of rock mechanics, determines the role and importance of geomechanics, its main problems occurring during providing the technology of underground and combined development of deposits. The methods of solving the geomechanical problems are observed. The essence and definition ways of mechanical parameters of rocks and estimation of their stress-strained state are described. Determination of a stress tensor is presented and regularities of its forming in the field of natural forces, in the neighborhood of mining excavations and worked spaces are considered using different mining development systems. Calculation techniques of the parameters of constructive elements of mining constructions are presented. The main parameters of rock shifting and the factors having the effect on this process of rock deformation are examined. Dynamic forms of mining pressure appearance and causes of origination of these forms are analyzed.
The manual is intended for studying the course “Geomechanics” by the students of face and corresponding education forms (05.15.02 specialty – “Underground development of mineral deposits”).
